One Betrayal Is Enough

A vampire duchess leaves her duke husband of 70 years after he bites a human and dismisses it as a brief diversion.

Adrian and his wife ruled as the vampire world's model couple for seven decades, documented in a film where he swore she gave immortality meaning. That same night, leaked footage caught him feeding on a young human woman in a hotel corridor and whispering he belonged to her until sunrise. When confronted, he called the encounter a momentary lapse, insisting their eternity together outweighed a few stolen nights. She had warned him on their wedding day that a third person in their marriage was the one line she would never tolerate. He bet on seventy years of history buying his absolution. She signed the divorce papers, claimed her assets, and vanished. A century later, he remains alone in the endless night while she has built a life entirely without him.
